Roland E. Portner

Roland “Rolly” E Portner, age 75, of Norwalk, passed away Tuesday evening, March 20, 2018 at Stein Hospice Care Center.

He was born December 4, 1942 in Norwalk to the late Ernest and Ercile (Lockwood) Portner. He was a 1962 graduate of Monroeville High School and was a longtime employee of Western Reserve Schools. He enjoyed camping, Facebook, bluegrass and country music, and especially spoiling his grandchildren.

He is survived by his sons, Jeff Portner of Norwalk and David Portner of Norwalk; and five grandchildren; Nathan Portner of Norwalk, Adam Portner of Norwalk, Kara Passeno of Grove City, Tiffany Passeno of Norwalk and Kaylyn Portner of Norwalk; and his girlfriend and favorite sweetie, Kay Meyer of Cincinnati.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Floetta “Flo” Portner in 2007; and his sister, Rita Arnold.

Friends may call on Friday from 4:00 – 6:00 P.M. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 10:30 A.M. in the funeral home with Pastor Charles Conrad officiating. Burial will follow at Meadow Green Memorial Park in Huron.
