A Note from the Evans'
Uncertainty, confusion, and anxiety are all natural responses when a loved one is dying or dies. When a death occurs, whether long-expected or sudden, the most important action is to call us, (419) 668-1469. From your first call onward, the Evans' will step in to provide direction and respectfully care for your deceased loved one, for you and for surviving family members.
What should I know when a death occurs?
Deaths usually occur in one of three settings: a hospital, nursing home, or in a home. When death occurs in a hospital or nursing home, the medical staff will determine the time of death and report it accordingly. At some point, you will be asked to provide the name of the funeral home of your choice. Typically, the medical staff will contact the funeral home on your behalf.
When a death occurs at home in the absence hospice nursing care, you may directly contact the Evans Funeral Home at (419) 668-1469 or call 911. If you call 911, EMS or law enforcement will arrive and you will be asked to provide your chosen funeral home. Evans Funeral Home professionals are ready for your call and will arrive within approximately 30 minutes.
When a death occurs at home with hospice nursing care professionals, the in-home nurse will call the funeral home on your behalf and will remain with the deceased until a funeral home representative arrives to transport the deceased to the director's care. Be comfortable knowing one of our professional staff members will transport your loved one to Evans Funeral Home in Norwalk, on the corner of East Main Street and Old State Road, where you will meet to plan the funeral arrangements at your predetermined date and time.
What if a death occurs away from home?
Do not hesitate to contact Evans Funeral Home at (419) 668-1469. An Evans Funeral Director will coordinate arrangements with out-of-town or out-of-state funeral service providers and tend to details necessary in the care and safe return of your loved one.
What to know when contacting my funeral director?
Be assured knowing the availability of an Evans Funeral Home representative is 24 hours a day 7 days a week including holidays. You can expect our funeral home representative to ask a few questions, including the whereabouts of the person who has passed away and some vital statistic information that will be needed throughout the duration of the funeral home's care. The funeral representative will coordinate a time that is convenient for you and your family to gather to complete your desired funeral arrangement.
