Ronald McConegly

Ronald J McConegly, age 80, of Norwalk, passed away Saturday, February 15, 2020 at Gaymont Nursing Center surrounded by his loving family.

He was born July 10, 1939 in Albion, PA to the late Kenneth and Lois McConegly. At age 18, Ron moved to Cleveland and attended Cleveland State, where he studied phlebotomy. Upon graduating he moved to Shelby, where he met his wife, Barb and started working as a lab technician. He retired from Fisher-Titus Memorial Hospital after 35 years of service. He enjoyed sitting around a fire with his family. He served on the Board of directors for Lefty Grove baseball for over 20 years and helped raise the flag just about every night. Ron was an avid fan of the New York Yankees, loved fishing, camping and a good discussion about aliens. He enjoyed reading the Bible and was a devoted Seventh Day Adventist. He never missed supporting his son and grandkids in anything they did.

He is survived by his son, John (Kim Leto) McConegly of Norwalk; step-daughter, Mary (Cory) Church of Norwalk; grandchildren, Halle, Logan, Mallory and Kennedy; great-grandchildren, Harper and Evelynn; sister, Sue (Mike) Mihalak of PA; a brother, Joe (Connie) McConegly of PA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, former wife, Barb; brother-in-law and friend, Lynn Fry.

Friends may call on Thursday, February 20, 2020 from 11:00 A.M. until time of service at 1:00 P.M. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. Private interment will be held at a later date.
