David R. Binting

David Robert Binting, age 66, of Norwalk, passed away unexpectedly Friday, September 18, 2026, at his residence. He was born on June 18, 1960, to Robert Dwight and Marilyn Jean (Hare) Binting.
Dave was a proud 1978 graduate of Perkins High School. Throughout his working years, he worked as a plumber for Neel Plumbing, as a machine operator at Delphi/KBI, and later retired as a Material Tech from Freudenberg.
Dave spent his teenage and early adult years bowling in a league at Star Lanes in Sandusky, a pastime he continued after moving to Norwalk by joining a league at the Maple Tree. He was also a longtime member of the Norwalk Eagles Club Aerie #711, where he proudly served as Vice President in 2000 and as a Trustee in 2001 and 2002. Later in life, Dave looked forward to golf league nights and time spent “slicing up the green” at Norwalk Sycamore Hills Golf Club.
Dave was also a passionate sports fan. He proudly supported his hometown teams, cheering on the Cleveland Cavaliers, Ohio State Buckeyes, and Cleveland baseball—forever known to Dave as “The Tribe”. He remained a loyal supporter of his alma mater, the Perkins Pirates football team, and was a lifelong Cleveland Browns fan; standing by them through the good seasons, the tough seasons, and everything in between.
Dave was never one to hold back what he was thinking. He had a way of telling you exactly what was on his mind and those who knew him learned to love him for it. His opinions, his stories, his sense of humor, and his unmistakable personality will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Above all else, Dave cherished his family. He took immense pride in his children and granddaughter, never missing an opportunity to share their accomplishments and latest endeavors with anyone who would listen. His family was his greatest source of pride and joy.
Dave is survived by his children, Deanna (Steve) Cole (Norwalk); David D. Binting (Massillon); his granddaughter, Skylarr Story (Norwalk); his brother, Dan Binting (Sandusky); his aunt, Gayle Bovia (Greenwich); as well as cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and coworkers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Marilyn Binting; his sister, Deborah Scherer; and his beloved dogs, Princess Mercedes Midnight, Tundra, and Lady Lexus.
A celebration of Dave’s life will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. Calling hours will be from 9:00 am until the time of service at 10:30 A.M. with Eric Lapata officiating. Interment will follow at Castalia Cemetery. In honor of Dave and his lifelong love of the Cleveland Browns, family and friends are encouraged to celebrate his memory by wearing their favorite Cleveland Browns attire.
Dave had a special love and compassion for animals, and in lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that memorial contributions be made to the Huron County Humane Society, 246 Woodlawn Avenue, Norwalk, OH 44857. Donations made in Dave’s memory will help provide care, comfort, and a second chance for animals in need, honoring a cause that was truly close to his heart.
