Robert "Chris" McConkey

Robert “Chris” McConkey, age 82, of Norwalk, passed away Friday, July 17, 2026, at Fisher-Titus Medical Center.

He was born May 27, 1944, in Norwalk to the late Robert M and Mary (Detsch) McConkey. He was a 1962 graduate of Norwalk High School and served in the US Army and National Guard.  He was a railroader for over 40 years with Norfolk Western and Norfolk Southern Railroad.  He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing online cribbage, his music, collecting coins and traveling with his wife. He was an avid fan of Cleveland sports and basketball.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Brenda (Orson) McConkey; children, Reece (Marie) McConkey of Lima, Jerry (Amy)Bement of Norwalk and Josh Bement of Norwalk; grandchildren, Amittai, Leah, Adam, Lydia, Aaron McConcokey, Madison (Grant) Olsen, Colin Bement and Nathan Adelman; and special Aunt, Betty Mirtes.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date and private interment at Woodlawn Cemetery.

Arrangements entrusted to the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk, OH.
