Kathleen M. Beat

Kathleen Mae Beat, age 86, of Collins, passed away Monday, June 1, 2026, at Reserve Care Stein Hospice in Sandusky.
She was born July 24, 1939, in Toledo to the late Flavin F. and Louise A. Pieper. She was a 1958 graduate of Oregon High School. She worked at the former Fanny Farmers Candy Co. for 17 years and then worked five years in the kitchen at Fisher-Titus Medical Center. Kathleen was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. She enjoyed crafting and teaching both the young and old. She loved creating scavenger hunts and hosting holiday celebrations for the children of family, friends and coworkers. She was also an avid card player. Throughout her life she enjoyed camping and traveling with family and friends. She never met a stranger and opened her home many times to those less fortunate.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond; children, Kevin (Carrie) Beat and Shirley (The late Mike) Smith; 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Denise Clark.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Flavin Pieper and Louise (Harry) Dominque; stepfather, George Dominque; sister, Audrene Riley; children, Christine Beat, Dawn (Eric) Douglass, and Kirk Beat.
A funeral Mass will be held Friday, June 19, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Alphonsus Liguori Catholic Church, 1322 Settlement Road, Norwalk with Fr. Charles M. Obinwa officiating. A luncheon will follow the Mass with private interment at a later date.
