Barbara A. Banaszek

 

Barbara Ann (Buck) Banaszek, age 86, of Norwalk, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family Thursday, May 7, 2026, at the Willows at Bellevue.

She was born September 27, 1939, in Saginaw, MI to James and Cecilia Buck. She was a graduate of Saginaw High where she was active in a singing trio. While she was working as a bookkeeper at Schmerheim Electric, she met and fell in love with Donald Banaszek. She also worked at Forwards Corp. in Standish, MI as an Assistant Manager for 15 years. 

On January 30, 1960, she married Don Banaszek and started a family, where she shared 62 memorable years of marriage. Barb was a member of St Mary’s Catholic Church, active in the American Legion Post 41 of Norwalk, the Norwalk VFW 2743, the Norwalk Eagles 711, she enjoyed her trips to Las Vegas, was an enormous fan of the Michigan Wolverines, telling jokes and was known for her spicy wit. She was a people person through and through and most of all, loved her family, especially her grandchildren. 

She is survived by her daughters, Terri (Keith) Porter and Kristy (Wayne) Stockmaster, both of Norwalk; grandchildren, Haylie (Rob) Robinson of Berlin Heights, Sydnee (Mike Ehresman) Stockmaster of Norwalk; great-grandchild Whitley Robinson of Berlin Heights; brother and sister in laws, David (Cathy) Banaszek, Maryann (Jim) Czolgosz, Christine Potter, all of Saginaw, MI; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded by her parents and her husband, Donald J. Banaszek in 2022; siblings Sue Cordle, Jane Whittman, Sally Hayward, and Mary Lynn Church.

Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday, May 13, 2026, St Mary Mother of the Redeemer Church, 38 W League St, Norwalk, with Fr Recker officiating. Burial will follow at St Paul’s Cemetery. 

Memorial contributions may be sent to St Mary Mother of the Redeemer Church, 38 W League St, Norwalk 44857. 

Thank you to the staff and nurses for their loving compassion at the Willows at Bellevue.

Barb was never one to say goodbye but, what she did always say was “See ya later, Alligator!” and was infamous for her “Tarzan call”.
