Carol A. Harpst

Carol A (Perry) Harpst, age 82, of Norwalk, passed away peacefully on December 8, after a courageous battle with cancer. Carol was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She had a special place in her heart for animals.
She was born April 24, 1943, in Norwalk and was a graduate of St. Paul High School and attended Bowling Green State University (Firelands) and the University of Toledo. She spent most of her life in health care as a Director of Volunteers. She was a mentor to many teen volunteers and expanded the programs with many young men and ladies realizing helping others is “What your filled life is all about.” Carol and her husband Jack attended St Anthony’s Catholic Church, Milan and Sorrowful Mother Shrine, Bellevue. Carol, lived most of her life in Norwalk and loved to travel and visit new places. She enjoyed live plays, flower gardening and had a flair for decorating and antiques. She was a past board member of Renaissance House, Salvation Army, and Huron County Fair Board, as well as 4-H advisor. Carol served as a judge at the hobby barn at the Huron County Fair for many years. Life member Eagle Aerie #711, Master Gardeners of Huron County and Senior Enrichment Center. She was also active with the local cancer society and worked on the local election board as a poll manager for many years.
Carol is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Jacqueline and (Mark) Sindlinger; grandchildren, Hali and Keagan Sindlinger and numerous other grandchildren; step-children, Susan (Gary) Lewis, David (Stephaine) Harpst, Laura (Larry) Merrick, William Harpst, and Julie Mallory; niece: Kathleen and (Daniel) Holtz; nephews: Rick and (Heather) Perry, of Norwalk, Trenton DeWalt of Pennsylvania; special cousin and friend: Marvin Smith
She was preceded in death by her husband Jack Harpst of 40 years along with her parents: Raymond and Anna (Smith) Perry; brother: Raymond Perry Jr.; sister, Donna Orofino; nephew, Dale Perry; stepson, Danial Harpst; and a grandson, Eric Blazer
Visitation for family and friends will be held Tuesday, December 16, 2025, from 3:00 – 5:00 P.M., where a prayer service will follow at Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. Interment will be held at a later date at St. Alphonsus.
