Ronald Hooper

Ronald R Hooper, age 98, of Peru Township, passed away Monday, February 10, 2025, at his residence surrounded by his family.

He was born June 23, 1926, in Brentford, England and was the youngest of eight children of Percival and Margaret Hooper. Ron worked at Sperry’s (now Unisys) in Brentford making compass parts and assembling them.

He served in the Irish Fusiliers of the British Army during World War II. He and his wife, Joyce, emigrated to Canada in 1955. In 1957 they moved to Ohio when Ron got a job with Ford Motor Company in Brookpark. He worked as a gauge inspector and was with Ford for 30 ½ years. In retirement, Ron and Joyce were snowbirds and traveled the World. Ron led an active life, playing football (soccer) in his younger years and ballroom dancing and golfing later in life.  He described himself as a “golf nut” for over 50 years. Over 40 degrees F and not windy or rainy and he’d be on the course.

He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Joyce (Marlow) Hooper; daughter, Sandy Hooper (Bernadette); and son, Phil (Jennifer). Ron will be greatly missed by friends and family in the United States and England.

At Ron’s request there will be no services. If you wish to do anything in Ron’s memory, then play a round of golf, go dancing or take a vacation with your loved ones.

Arrangements entrusted to the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk.
