Jake Bogner

Jacob “Jake” Edwin Bogner, age 54, of Norwalk, passed away Monday, January 13, 2025, at the University Hospital in Cleveland.

He was born December 21, 1970, in Bellevue and was a 1990 graduate of Fremont Ross High School. He attended Firelands College and graduated from BGSU with a bachelor’s in sociology and a minor in geography. He worked at Cedar Point, TGI Fridays, Chet and Matt’s Pizza, Denny’s in Huron, a halfway house in Sandusky, Flat Rock Children’s Home, and enjoyed spending time with his children. He was known as a kind and loving person and enjoyed his garden and raising tomatoes and cucumbers.

He was an active member of St. Paul Catholic Church and served as a 5:00 P.M. usher at Mass, member of the Knights of Columbus Council 626, and appreciated the lunches at the Norwalk Salvation Army. He especially enjoyed perch fishing, and was an avid Los Angeles Dodgers, Lakers and Michigan fan. He was a member in good standing at Sheri’s Coffee House in Norwalk and enjoyed animals, cats, dogs and snakes. Jake will be missed by his children and spending time in the backyard bon fire.

He is survived by his mother, Jane (Hammersmith) Stout of Fremont; children, Seth Bogner of Norwalk, Sean Bogner of Norwalk, and Kaitlyn of Norwalk; siblings, Craig (Stephanie) Bogner of Sylvania, Nathan Stout of Norwalk, Brian Bogner of Bellevue, and Leslie Cleavenger.

He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Bogner; stepfather, Terry Stout; and a nephew, Zachary Bogner.

Visitation for family and friends will be held Saturday, January 18, 2025, from 11:00 A.M. until time of service at 1:00 P.M. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. A luncheon will immediately follow at St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 E. Main Street, Norwalk.  

Memorial contributions may be sent to the Salvation Army, 55 Whittlesey Avenue, Norwalk, OH 44857.

Jake was a fine man. He helped with my nephew, so I was Aunt Rose to him as well. He will dearly be missed.
I was out of state over the weekend.
