Burt "Mr. Z" Zimmerman

Burt “Mr Z” Wayne Zimmerman, age 76, of Norwalk, passed away Thursday, October 3, 2024, at his son’s residence in Fremont, surrounded by his family.

He was born March 9, 1948, in Sandusky to the late Bert and Evelyn (Chaffee) Zimmerman. He was a 1965 graduate of Huron High School, served in the US Navy from 1965-1968 then moved to Norwalk in 1969. He worked at Fanny Farmers, and Stokley’s in his early years, and provided cleaning services at Norwalk City School for 30 years, First Presbyterian Church in Norwalk for 30 years, and St. Peter Lutheran Church in Norwalk for 27 years. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed the outdoors and hunting.

He is survived by his sons, Randy Zimmerman and Rob Zimmerman, his grandchildren; and his sister, Janet Barnett and her family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Renee; and siblings, Ron, Judy and Jack.

Visitation for family and friends will be held Tuesday, October 8, 2024, from 10:00 until 10:45 A.M. followed by a funeral service at 11:00 A.M. in the First Presbyterian Church, 21 Firelands Blvd, Norwalk with the Rev. James Hodsden, pastor the church. At Burt’s request cremation will follow with private interment at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be sent to the First Presbyterian Church or one’s favorite charity.

Arrangements entrusted to the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk.
