Nancy Joanne White

Nancy Joanne White, age 86, of Norwalk, passed peacefully Monday, September 30, 2024, at Fisher-Titus Medical Center surrounded by some of her family.
She was born August 7, 1938, in Barre, Vermont to the late Ethel G. (Harrison) and Vincent White. Nancy was a teacher and school administrator for many years and then became a Licensed Social Worker. She worked at Firelands Counseling and Recovery for over 20 years before retiring when she turned 80. After retirement she was on the board of directors for the Huron County Senior Enrichment Services. Although she never had any children, she had many dogs and cats over the years that she loved as dearly as if they were her children.
She is survived by her lifelong, best friend, Helen Joyal of Williamstown, VT; nieces and nephews, Beverley Boguszewski of Norwalk, Kathryn (Terry) Durham of Sandusky, James (Norma) Sawyer of Yearington, NV, Cynthia (Allan) McLeod of Norwalk, Sally (Duane) Lucius of Norwalk, Ronald (Ruth) Sawyer of Findlay, Pamela Odle of Pickerington; many great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews and a few great-great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her sister and brother-in-law, Jacqueline and Howard Sawyer.
A graveside service will be held at Northfield Falls Cemetery, VT and a Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date in Norwalk. Due to her love of animals the family is asking that any memorial contributions be made in her name to the Huron County Humane Society, 246 Woodlawn Avenue, Norwalk, OH 44857.
