Joyce M. Dawson

Joyce Marie Dawson, age 101, of Sandusky and formerly Norwalk, passed away Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Providence Care Center in Sandusky.
She was born February 8, 1923, in Norwalk to the late Joseph Frederick and Rosa D. (Lange) Rettinger. She was a graduate of St. Paul High School and enjoyed raising her children and attending their school activities. She was a bookkeeper and secretary for medical offices for over 27 years. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and enjoyed square dancing, crocheting, camping club, and after retirement did extensive traveling for weeks at a time with her late husband, Jack.
She is survived by her children, Terry (Betty) Dawson of Norwalk, Jacquelyn (Jim) McGill of Sandusky, Deborah (the late Jerry) Hemmer of Fremont, Gregory (Sharon) Dawson of Findlay, Janien Dawson of Sandusky, and Jeffry (Kim) Dawson of Dallas, TX; 10 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Darel Dawson on December 6, 2000; and her twin sister, Janet Goncalves, and brother, Frederick Rettinger Jr.
A funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at 10:30 A.M. at St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 E. Main Street, Norwalk. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery, and a luncheon will be provided in the gathering space at St. Paul.
