Dean Anthony Abel

Dean Anthony Abel, age 72, of Wakeman, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at Norwalk Memorial Home, after a lengthy illness.
He was born February 22, 1952, in Lorain and was a graduate of Lorain High School. He obtained an associate degree from Lorain County Community College. He worked at Ford Motor Co. in Lorain and then Avon Lake, where he retired after 30 years of dedicated service. He belonged to the Delaware Avenue Methodist Church as a child then Collins United Methodist Church, and he played in the church softball leagues. He enjoyed going out on his boat fishing for perch and walleye, collecting his baseball and football cards, and spending time with his family. The family’s fondest memory was him catching enough perch in a summer for a fish fry for the entire Collins Church congregation.
He is survived by his seven children, Michael Dean Abel, Karen Abel, Aimee (Stephen) Dean, Lori (John) Hahn, James Dean Abel, Jack Abel, and Alexander (Dasha) Abel; grandchildren, Hannah Abel, Natalie Abel, Zachary Brant, Lainey Dean and Mason Dean; brothers, Edward Arthur Abel, Gerald Allen Abel, and James Albert Abel; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lois Mae (Spiedell) Sutter and Archie E. Abel; his brother, Leslie Abel; grandparents, Edward V. Spiedell, Marie K. (Stolba) Spiedell, Leon Arthur Abel and Mary L. (Moore) Abel.
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
Arrangements entrusted to the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk.
