August R Gilbert, age 67, of Norwalk, passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at Fisher-Titus Medical Center.
He was born November 12, 1956, in Sandusky to the late Sylvester and Eleanor (Simon) Gilbert. He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren and was a truck driver for 35 years.
He is survived by his loving wife, Delores (Epling) Gilbert of Norwalk; children, Connie (Willie) Harris of FL, Lindsey Chandler of FL, Joshua Kerr of Columbus, and Alison Kerr of Sandusky; grandchildren, Jade Kerr, Damien Errett, Ivy Kerr; adopted daughter, Rachel Lanier and her children, Aspyn Bray, Claudia Lanier, Presleigh Lanier, and Prince Lanier; other grandchildren, Allie Harris, Kiersten Harris, Zoie Harris, Bubba Harris, and Christian Ballard; siblings, Evelyn, Irene, Edna, Jimmy, Odesa, and Margaret; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Karl Gilbert; and adopted granddaughter, Storm Lanier.
A celebration of life gathering will be held at a later date.
Arrangements entrusted to the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk.
