Pastor Carl Woodyard Sr.

Carl Richard Woodyard Sr, age 74, of Norwalk, passed away peacefully Thursday, January 11, 2024, surrounded by his family.

He was born June 13, 1949, in Athens, OH to the late Delmar and Dorothy (Markin) Woodyard.  He served in the US Army from 1967 until 1970 and received the bronze star with valor and a recipient of the purple heart.  He began pastoring in North Carolina and Mansfield and moved to Norwalk in 1983 with his vision to build Mt. Harvest Church of God in Milan and completed in 1988. He enjoyed over 45 years of church leadership and enjoyed spending time with his church friends, family, and grandchildren.  He enjoyed the outdoors, mowing and working with his hands.

He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Marcia (Woodruff) Woodyard; children, Carl “Joe” (Angie) Woodyard Jr. of Norwalk, Jay (Liz) Woodyard of Huron, and Arianne (Rick) Yontz of Norwalk; grandchildren, Amelia, Abby, Lydia, Sianna, Landen, Lincoln, Levi and Jude; sisters, Susan Zimmerman of Mansfield and Peggy Lillibridge of Mansfield; nieces, nephews and cousins.

A visitation for family and friends will be held Tuesday, January 16, 2024, from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at 1:00 P.M. at the Mt. Harvest Church of God, 150 State Route 113, Milan, OH. Burial with military honors will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Norwalk.

Memorial contributions may be sent to Mt. Harvest Church of God, 150 State Route 113, Milan, OH 44846.

Arrangements entrusted to the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk, OH.

Pastor Woodyard was a wonderful man of God. My husband and I sat under his ministry for about 5 years. He also built the foundation for our house. I will always remember him. Praying for the family.
