Darrell "The Can Man" Thorley

Darrell E "The Can Man" Thorley, age 69, of Milan and formerly Norwalk, passed away Monday, December 25, 2023, at Fisher-Titus Medical Center.
He was born July 13, 1954, in Norwalk to the late Joseph W. Thorley and Kitty F. (Jones) Weller. He graduated from Norwalk High School and enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. Darrell loved all animals and even raised pigeons in a backyard coop as a young boy. He worked for many years at Domino's Pizza. He would pass out flyers to local residents and was proud to dress as the Noid to represent the Norwalk store. He was known to ride his bike around town and collect cans for recycling, hence the nickname, "The Can Man". He was also a former employee of Maple City Rubber. He attended Freedom Christian Fellowship Church.
He is survived by his sisters, Joyce (David) Schauss and Lorraine O’Sullivan; brother, Eric Thorley; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, J. William Thorley in 2016, and nephew, Gregory Thorley in 2002.
The family would like to thank the staff at Continuing Healthcare of Milan for their many years of devoted care.
A visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday, January 3, 2024, from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service at 1:00 P.M. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk with Rev. Roy Harless officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
