Cynthia Schaechterle
December 15, 2023
Cynthia Schaechterle, age 73, of Norwalk, passed away Friday, December 15, 2023, at Fisher-Titus Medical Center.
A beautiful, brilliant, and talented lady, Cyd loved books, movies, music, flowers, making homes feel warm and cozy, and caring for others. During her life she worked in professions that allowed these gifts to shine; playing piano and organ for weddings, serving as a nurse and medical transcriptionist, running a flower shop, and watching over the pets and homes of her many dear friends in Port Clinton and Catawba, where she loved living by the water and the lake.
The eldest of Gordon and Norma Schaechterle, who called her Cynthia, Cyd helped to guide and nurture her four younger siblings and her nine nieces and nephews. She took pride in every graduation, job success, marriage, and birth; delighted in being Eddie’s favorite aunt; and was requesting photos of her grandnieces and nephews and planning meals for a family reunion even to the very end.
She is survived by her mother, her siblings and their spouses, and their children. She was welcomed into eternity by her father and troop of pets, including Rocky, Gertie, Hamlet, and Sarah, who surely barked with great joy when receiving their kind-hearted earthly caretaker.
One of her last testaments was hearing the voice of her maternal grandmother telling her to climb into her Heavenly Father’s lap and rest there. Into His loving arms we now commend the spirit of our beloved Cyd. May she find, in the divine embrace, the comfort and care that she provided to others throughout her life.
A private service will be held for immediate family. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her name to the Huron County Humane Society.
Arrangements entrusted to the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk.
