Jack A. Peters

Jack A Peters, age 92, of Norwalk, passed away peacefully Monday, November 6, 2023, at home.

He was born April 27, 1931, in Sandusky to the late Merritt and Marcella (Kamann) Peters. He was a 1949 graduate of Sandusky High School and served as a Sergeant in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.  He received the Korean Service Ribbon, two Bronze Service Stars, Combat Infantry Badge, United Nations Service Medal and National Defense Service Medal.  In his early years he worked at Philco and then Esmond Dairy.  He retired after 30 years with Ford Motor Company and was a member of UAW Local 1216.  He was a life member of the Norwalk VFW Post 2743 and the Sandusky American Legion, and a member of the Norwalk Eagles Aerie #711 and St. Paul Catholic Church.

He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Donna (Parker) Peters of Norwalk; children, Jacqueline (Thomas) Welker of Lakeside-Marblehead, Charlene (Ronald) Forrest of Milan, Monica Graves of Sandusky, Susanne (Michael) Smith of Buckeye Lake, OH, and Kevin (Deborah) Peters of Venice, FL; 20 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Merritt; mother, Marcella “Babe” Close, and his stepfather, Dr. August Close; brother, Gerald “Bud” Peters; sister, Lois Uhl.

Family would like to thank Stein Hospice and the Veterans Administration for their support and care provided to Jack at home.

A visitation for family and friends will be held 4:00 – 6:00 P.M. Friday, November 10, 2023, at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. Also Saturday, November 11, 2023, from 9:00 – 10:00 A.M. in the funeral home. A funeral Mass will follow at 10:30 A.M. at St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 E. Main Street, Norwalk with Father Anthony Recker officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Paul Catholic Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be sent to Norwalk Catholic School, 93 E. Main Street, Norwalk, OH 44857.

Thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time. I remember how he would sit on Mike and Sue's porch and watch the chaos going on at their party. I think he had a direct line of vision of the wine vine and beer tree...LOL. May he rest in peace and may memories help comfort all.
