James W. Filip

James W Filip, age 77, of Norwalk, passed away Thursday, August 24, 2023, at Fisher-Titus Medical Center.
He was born April 24, 1946, in Norwalk to the late George and Marian (Dugas) Filip. He was a 1964 graduate of Norwalk High School, attended Kemper Military School, and served in the US Army while being stationed in Vietnam, Japan and Fayetteville, NC. Upon leaving the military he worked in the family business, Filip’s Water Conditioning in Norwalk. He also worked at Valley trucking and Culligan Water Systems for over 40 years. He was an avid NASCAR fan for all that he knew, and enjoyed cooking, BBQ, golfing, casinos and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
He is survived by his brother, Keith Filip of Lakewood; children, Stacy (Robert) Lamb of Shelby, Tara (Mark) Parker of Louisville, KY, and Meaghan (Mark) Sapon of Zion Crossing, VA; Brad (Karen Collingwood) Winkle of Wakeman, Shannon Winkle of Norwalk; longtime love of his life, Cathy Hauser of Norwalk; grandchildren, Ashley McNeil, Konnar Lamb, Alexis Cain, Mason Sapon, Landon Sapon and Hudson Sapon; great-grandchildren, Regan and Harper McNeil; nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his son, Brandon Filip.
A visitation for family and friends will be held Monday, August 28, 2023, from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. Private interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the DAV Chapter #62, 87 Woodlawn Avenue, Norwalk, OH 44857.
