Saint Athanasius James Heffner

Saint Athanasius James Heffner

Saint Athanasius James Heffner, son of Tanner and Marriana Heffner, was born on August 5, 2023. In His great mercy, God allowed Athanasius to receive the holy Sacraments of Baptism and Confirmation at the hands of Father Anthony Recker.

Athan was placed into the arms of his mother and father who were able to spend a full hour telling him how much they treasure him before Jesus took him home to Heaven. Athanasius was wanted and cherished from the moment he came into existence. Though his time on earth was brief, all he ever knew was love. Glory be to God our Father for the magnificent gift of eternal life and joy which has been granted to our precious little saint.

Athanasius is survived by his father and mother, Tanner and Marriana Heffner, his big sister, Azelie Heffner, and his grandparents: Tony and Teresa Heffner, Robert and Karen Duncan, and Constance Leach. He was preceded in death by his uncle, Daniel Duncan and his grandfather, Ronald Leach.

Athan's eternal life will be celebrated in Holy Mass at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, August 12, 2023, at Mary Mother of the Redeemer Catholic Church, 38 W. League Street, Norwalk, OH with Father Anthony Recker officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul Catholic Cemetery, 50 S. West Street, Norwalk, OH with a reception immediately after in the Gathering Space of St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 E. Main Street, Norwalk, OH.

All are invited to join Athan's family for Holy Mass and for the burial and reception which will follow. Guests are encouraged to wear white or some other color of celebration in lieu of mourning black. Despite our profound grief, we desire to celebrate Athan's life and the beauty of his sainthood with holy joy.

Arrangements entrusted to the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk.
