Ronald Barber

Ronald Barber, age 62, of Vermilion, passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at his residence.

He was born December 20, 1960, in Norwalk to the late Norman K. and Mary L. (Sprowl) Barber. He was a 1979 graduate of Edison High School.  He was a store manager with Big Lots, and then a mold operator at Berry Global in Monroeville until present.  He supported the Victory Kitchen in Sandusky, and attended church with his daughter and read the bible.  He was rookie of the year in the 1970’s as a stock car racer at the Sandusky Speedway.  He enjoyed sprint cars, super modified and barbecuing.  He was known as a jokester and prankster to his family and friends at Berry Plastics. He was a 2nd father to many, provided good advice, peacemaker, and great friend.

He is survived by his children, Joshua Barber of West Palm Beach, FL, Steven (Amanda) Barber of Monroeville, and Christina (Daniel) Goossens of Fremont; four grandson, one granddaughter and one grandson on the way; brother, Keith Barber of GA; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Norman Glenn Barber.

A celebration of life gathering will be held Thursday, June 29, 2023, from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. Private interment will be held at Milan Cemetery.

I worked with Ron at NBC/Rinks in Norwalk in the early eighties. He was always such a a nice guy.

Mr. Barber was a one of a kind individual. He was a great listener and told some very funny stories. He always made me laugh and gave great advice. I believe he was a “father figure” to many people and a good friend. He will be missed, but never forgotten. Rest in peace
