Florence L. Woodford

Florence Louise (Ross) Woodford, age 76, of Collins, passed away Friday, June 2, 2023, at her sister Mary’s home in Norwalk, surrounded by her family. She had been battling cancer for 7 ½ years and gave it a great fight.
She was born September 9, 1946, in Norwalk to the late Laurence H. and Ruth (Runion) Ross. She was born and raised in Norwalk and later moved to Collins. She enjoyed her friends and family. Florence gave a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Florence worked at Fanny Farmers and at Walmart as a greeter, and in the crafts and the fabric department.
She is survived by her husband, William A. Woodford Jr.; son, William Andrew Woodford III; and grandson, Andrew Myers whom she raised; also, a grandmother to Cristal Riedel, Harley Swartz, and Xamara Woodford; and a great-grandmother to Coraline Myers; sister, Mary (Bob) Messersmith; and many nieces and nephews, Tammy (Messersmith) Wasiniak and Jennifer (Ross) Ramos gave tremendous help in Florence’s final days.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Laurence and Ruth Ross; brother, Laurence “Wayne” Ross along with his children, Kevin Ross and Christina Ross.
Friends may call on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. A funeral service will be held by pastor Jeff Watson Thursday, June 8, 2023, at 12:30 P.M. in the funeral home. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
