Paul E. Pelham
April 03, 2023
Paul E Pelham, age 90, of Waterville and formerly Norwalk, passed away Monday, April 3, 2023, at Ebeid Hospice in Sylvania.
He was born February 1, 1933, in Norwalk to the late Eugene Pelham and Armetta Scard. He retired after 32 years as a press operator at Tenneco in 1998.
Those lucky enough to know Paul knew he was a lover of life. He cherished his family above all else, including the family he found through friendship. Children brought him the greatest joy. Known to them as “Bapa,” his grandchildren and great-grandchildren will always remember him for his affinity for jokes and watching their soccer matches. Paul was a talented football player in high school. His love of sports and gift for helping others led to him coaching grade school football, which he talked about until his final days. He would often fondly remember, “Those were the boys who won the State Championship in 1974.” He loved playing Santa Claus, something he did for 50 years and led to him volunteering for over 20 years at the Veterans Home. Had his health allowed, Paul would have served his country by joining the military. Happily volunteering to assist veterans was among his proudest accomplishments in life.
Paul will be remembered by all for his love, happiness, and joking. His message to family and friends reads, “Enjoy. Be happy, not too serious. You are only on Earth a short time, so enjoy and treat people like you would like to be treated.”
He is survived by his wife, Shirley (Beaven) Pelham; daughter, Debbie (Scot) Morehouse; grandchildren, Taylor (Brian) Billings, and Jordan (Korey) Howe; great-grandchildren, Hugo, Penelope, and Seamus Billings; brother, Norb (Judy) Pelham; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and stepmother, June Pelham, and brother, Ray Pelham.
Friends may call on Friday, April 7, 2023, from 9:00 – 11:00 A.M. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk, where a celebration of life service will follow.
Memorial contributions may be sent to the Huron County Humane Society, 246 Woodlawn Avenue, Norwalk, OH 44857, Ohio Veterans Home activities fund, 3416 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, OH 44870 or Ebeid Hospice Residence, 5340 Harroun Road, Sylvania, OH 43560.
