Mary A. Williams

Mary A (Magee) Williams, age 93, of Norwalk, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at Fisher-Titus Medical Center.

She was born October 13, 1929, in Clearwater, South Carolina to the late Sidney and Sarah (McKinney) Magee.  She lived in Philadelphia, PA from 1940 until 1945 and then graduated high school in 1946 then attended nursing school.  She moved to North Augusta, South Carolina and lived in Norwalk for the past 71 years.  She enjoyed crafts, playing piano and organ, collecting dolls and gardening.  She worked as a phone operator with GTE and housekeeping at Fisher-Titus Medical Center.  She was also a member of the former Handyman’s Club.

She is survived by her children, Christine R. Hunt of Monroeville, Sharon L. Rigg of Norwalk, and Robert S. Williams of North Fairfield; grandchildren, Laurence Rigg, Kenneth Rigg, Joshua Williams, Lisa Williams, and Richard Hunt; 9 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; sister, Jenny Louella (Domingo) Solis; and sister-in-law, Sandra Williams of Shelby; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; father- and mother-in-law, Clarence R. (Ethel) Williams, Sr.; husband, Clarence R. Williams, Jr.; son, Laurence Anthony Williams; grandson, James Scott Rigg; sister, Sarah Leslie (Herb) Dasher; sister-in-law, Beverly (John) Fairchild; brother-in-law, Charles “Butch” Williams; nephews, Russell Grey and Johnny Fairchild.

Friends may call Wednesday, February 22, 2023, from 11:00 – 12:30 P.M. at Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. A graveside service will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, New Haven.
