Robert "Bob" Brutcher

Robert “Bob” Brutcher, age 83, of Norwalk, passed away Friday, December 2, 2022, at Norwalk Memorial Home.

He was born October 1, 1939, in Clyde, Ohio and was a graduate of Clyde High School.  He served in the US Navy for 4 years and retired after 19 years with the US Coast Guard in 1986.  He worked over 17 years at Tenneco as an electrician.  He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren known to him as Grandpa’s Ship Mates, woodworking, and weekly breakfast with his retired friends.  He was a member of the American Legion Post 41 and enjoyed attending to his yard and landscaping.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Brutcher of Norwalk; children, Dana (Bruce) Richards of Ashland, Bob (Kate) Brutcher of Norwalk and Scott (Becky) Brutcher of Norwalk; grandchildren, Tom (Laura) Richards and Alyssa Richards, Logan (Morgan) Brutcher, Mason (Gretchen) Brutcher, Griffin Brutcher, Jeremy Wiedle, and Rachel (Terry) Hohlfelder; brother, Ronald (Arlene) Brutcher of Virginia; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ethel (Dearsman) Brutcher; grandson, Jeffrey Warneck; and siblings, Pauline Hirt, Johnny Brutcher and Kathyrunn Ritchey.

Visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday, December 7, 2022, from 3:00 – 6:00 P.M. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk.  Private interment will be held at a later date.

I served with Bob on the Coast Guard Cutter Mohican. He was a good man and a great shipmate. I enjoyed his company and even learned a little about electricity from him. I'm sorry for your loss.
