Frederick "Fred" Herner Sr.

Frederick A Herner Sr, age 80, of Willard, passed away Sunday, October 30, 2022, at Stein Hospice Care Center.

He was born September 9, 1942, in Norwalk to the late Gilbert and Louise (Claus) Herner. He attended Monroeville High School and worked over 42 years with Ford Motor Co. in Sandusky and was a member of UAW 1216. He enjoyed his dog, Buttons, and spending time with his family. He enjoyed playing softball, bowling, boating, and tractor pulls. He especially enjoyed the sand dunes in Michigan, where he rode his sand rails and off-roading.

He is survived by his son, Timothy (Kimberly Atkins) Herner of Willard and his mother, Linda Herner of Norwalk; grandchildren, Kyle Herner, Stephanie Noethen, Trisha Miller, Michael Herner and Matthew Herner; and five great-grandchildren; a brother, David (Peggy) Herner of Norwalk; nieces, nephews, and his caregiver, Jason Brant.

He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather, Burton Worcester; son, Fred Herner Jr.; brothers, William Herner and Thomas Herner.

A celebration of life gathering will be held Thursday, November 3, 2022, from 4:00 – 6:00 P.M. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. Private interment will be held at a later date.
