Randall Herner

Randall A Herner, age 92, of Norwalk, passed away Thursday, July 21, 2022, at Norwalk Memorial Home. Eighty and out plus twelve.

He was born July 4, 1930, in Monroeville to the late Earl C. and E. Mae (Wheeler) Herner. He was a 1948 graduate of Willard High School. He was a machinist at Durable Mat and Boxboard Packaging and was known as a jack of all trades. He was instrumental in Lefty Grove Baseball as a coach and umpire for many years, and enjoyed playing chess, gardening, baseball and especially watching the Cleveland Indians. His family regards him as being insightful as a farmer’s almanac and he operated R.A.’s Tinkershop in his retirement years.

He is survived by his children, Stephen Herner of Norwalk, Michael (Michele) Herner of Avon, and Lynn (John) Smith of Norwalk; grandchildren, Christopher, Adam (Kate), Jacquelyn and Emily; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary A. (Plue) Herner in 1991; son, Charles Herner; siblings, Mardell Zidarin, Jo Ann Fife, and Charles Herner.

Visitation for family and friends will be held Sunday, July 24, 2022, from 4:00 – 6:00 P.M. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. A funeral service will be held Monday, July 25, 2022, at 11:00 A.M. in the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff at Norwalk Memorial Home, Stein Hospice and Dr. David and Mary Stanbery family for their care.
