Lyle Rhoad

Lyle L Rhoad, age 89, of Norwalk, passed away Sunday, May 29, 2022, at Norwalk Memorial Home.
Lyle was born May 19, 1933, in Bloomville, OH and was a graduate of Bloomville High School. As a young man he worked for local farmers and repair shops. He then served in the US Army in Korea. He worked at Whirlpool, Prudential Life Insurance, Tastee Bread, and retired with over 30 years of service at Wonder Bread. Wednesdays were family day, with many lake and park outings. Every summer he took his wife and children on road trip vacations throughout the United States. He was an avid Cleveland Indians and Ohio State University sports fan. He enjoyed working with his hands, tinkering with cars and fixing things around his home. He also enjoyed trips to Alaska, Hawaii, and many fun trips with the Norwalk Senior Center. He was a resident of Norwalk for 61 years and was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Phyllis (Gross) Rhoad of Norwalk; children, Deb (Craig Martinez) Failor of Berthoud, CO and David Rhoad of Littleton, CO; a grandson, Ethan Rhoad of Littleton, CO; and numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ellis and Bernice (Briegel) Rhoad; and a son, Stephen Lyle Rhoad; siblings, Ellis, Gerry, Ed, Richard, and Kenneth.
A funeral Mass will be held Friday, June 17th, 2022, at 10:30 A.M. at St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 E. Main Street, Norwalk. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery.
