Richard L. "Dick" Lewis

Richard L “Dick” Lewis of Sandusky, Ohio passed away early Sunday morning, May 1, 2022, at Edgewood Manor Health Care Center in Port Clinton, Ohio at the age of 91.
He was born January 3, 1931, in Fostoria, Ohio, the son of Lalia (Kline) Lewis and John W. Lewis. He was the youngest of four children and had three sisters, Anna Rose Nichols, Donna Youngston and Virginia Foltz. Richard was a graduate of Fostoria High School. After graduation, he served in the United States Army in the Korean Conflict from August 1951 until August 1953. He returned to Fostoria and then moved to Sandusky with the SS Kresge Co. His entire career revolved around merchandising and sales, as he was a true people person. He loved to organize, display, and sell anything from fencing to cars. Richard retired in 2014. Throughout his years, Dick enjoyed many activities. His favorites were drawing, playing cards, golfing, bowling, and reading book after book from the public library. It made him particularly happy to spend time with friends and family. The children in his life benefitted from his playful, creative, nature and patience. He will be remembered for his smile, his sense of humor and calm, loving nature.
Richard is survived by his loving wife, Helen (Flowers) Lewis of 69 years. Dick and Helen were married, August 30, 1952, in North Baltimore, Ohio. He is also survived by his two children, Christine R. Nairne of Charleston, SC (Jerome Nairne) and John E. Lewis (Denise Lewis) of Huron, Ohio, six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
