Leon Walter Camp

Leon Walter Camp, age 85, of Norwalk, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2022 at Admiral’s Point, Huron.
He was born August 24, 1936, in Sandusky to the late Leo Marzellian Camp and Florence Phillamena (Ott) Camp. A 1954 graduate of St. Paul High School, he worked in construction as an operating engineer for over 42 years at Roth, Chapin, and other local construction companies. In addition, he was a member of the Local 18 Union of Ohio Operating Engineers for over 65 years. He was a lifelong member of St. Paul Catholic Church, as well as a lifetime member of the Norwalk Eagles Aerie 711, Norwalk Bronson Conservation Club and Norwalk Moose Lodge. He was proud of his over 50 gallon blood donation with the American Red Cross and also supported Lefty Grove Baseball League. He enjoyed his time with friends and family outside of work, loved being in the outdoors, gardening and working around the house. An avid deer hunter and fisherman, he enjoyed hunting trips to Pennsylvania around Thanksgiving and their numerous family vacations, especially the neighborhood camping trips every year over the 4th of July. Leon loved sports and attending his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events. He and his wife traveled together to all 50 states and numerous other countries around the world.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Janice (Condon) Camp of Norwalk; children, Matthew (Lisa) Camp of Lorain, Kristina (Georg) Musil of Vienna, Austria and Michele (Jerry Venable) Camp of Berlin Heights; grandchildren, Tyler (Celeste) Camp, Katherine (Danny Barger) Camp, Isabella Musil and Raphael Musil; great-grandchildren, Eliza and Clara Camp; brother, Carl (Linda) Camp of Norwalk.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Raymond Camp, Clarence Camp, Mary Louise Kerner and Leonard Camp.
Friends may call on Sunday, March 27, 2022, from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. A funeral Mass will be held 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, March 29, 2022, at St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 E. Main Street, Norwalk. Burial will follow at St. Paul Catholic Cemetery.
