Carol Stieber

Carol Stieber, 85, of Norwalk died at home Thursday, March 10th, 2022 after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. A daughter of Melvin and Mildred (nee Grimmer) Ott, Carol grew up in Norwalk and was a 1954 graduate of St. Paul High School. In October of 1956 she married, the love of her life, Paul. They were married for 65 years and together raised a beautiful family of seven children. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Monroeville where she was the organist for many years. She loved music and taught piano lessons and played in several dance bands including the Quarter Notes, and Joe Nigro Combo. She was a member of the St. Joseph Alter & Rosary Society and served as Organist and Eucharistic Minister. She also served as a 4-H Advisor for many years.
After raising her seven children, Carol worked for Century-21 and Remax Realty. She enjoyed music, shopping, sewing, advanced coloring books and gardening. She also enjoyed playing euchre with many of her dear friends. She traveled the world and spent several winters in Florida. Her faith and love of God was the cornerstone of her life. It allowed her to carry her cross of Parkinson’s disease with grace and perseverance. She will be remembered for her kind and selfless personality.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Cindy (fiancé Perry Nelson) Cash, Kevin (Elaine) Stieber, Debi (Ted) Caldwell, Paula (Mike) Hackathorn, Krista (John) Smith, Bonnie (Mike) Bollenbacher and Lori (Jeff) Nickoli. She survives by 16 grandchildren, Amelia Cash, Brooke Grobe, Eddie Stieber, Trisha Bauer, Lynsey Welfle, Meredith and Thomas Hackathorn, Olivia Ringenberg, Victoria Sparks, Jacob, Daniel and Colton Bollenbacher, Elise, Jaret, Luke and Tristan Nickoli and 7 great-grandchildren, Braxton and Teagan Bauer, Elsie, Lottie and Kit Welfle, Magnolia & Gibson Ringenberg. She also survived by her sister Betty Smith, brothers- in-law Robert Stieber and James Stieber and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by her sister Rita Stieber, brother Jim Ott , son-in-law Rick Schaffer and numerous family members.
Friends may call on Sunday, March 13, 2022, from 2:00 – 5:00 P.M. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. A funeral Mass will be held 10:00 A.M. Monday, March 14, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Monroeville with Fr. Chris Jesudhason and nephew, Monsignor Charles Singler officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
