Sylvia C. Bellitto
January 31, 2022
Sylvia Christine Bellitto, age 75, of Norwalk, passed away unexpectedly Monday, January 31, 2022, at Fisher-Titus Medical Center.
She was born February 4,1946, in Cleveland, OH to the late Sophie (Krusinski) Frygier, and raised by her mother and loving stepfather Felix Jankowski near Slovic Village in Cleveland. She married and moved to Sandusky, OH, raising her 3 children Christina, Theresa, and Anthony (Tina, Terri & Tony) on the west end, full of wonderful neighbors. Sylvia took her 3 small children and walked door to door raising donations for March of Dimes, was an Erie County Foster Mom, and enjoyed being her daughter’s Camp Fire Girls Blue Bird Leader.
She loved to cook Polish & Italian foods, bake cookies, and make chocolate molded candies as gifts. Her and her ex-husband, Rich, liked to play cards and throw fun themed parties with their close friend group, including Halloween costume parties, house painting and dance parties, among just a few. She enjoyed the arts of crocheting, embroidering, coloring, and crafting. But nothing gave her more joy than watching her 6 grandchildren grow up. She treasured her prized sweatshirts with each of their names embroidered on them. And at Christmas, she hung stockings for all her children and grandchildren with their names hand painted on them, careful never to forget one.
As a teenager, Sylvia saw Elvis Presley in concert and became a lifelong fan. In her final hour, her children played Elvis’s “Can’t Help Falling in Love” to ease her transition.
When her kids were grown, she moved back to the Cleveland area & worked over 10 years with Key Bank in Customer Service. She retired in 2001, moving in 2003 to Norwalk to live closer to her family and was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. Her home health aide of 4 years, Andrea Miles, became her 3rd daughter, showing her how to be young again, and taking excellent care of her. Sylvia looked forward to seeing her every day and missed her on the weekends. She loved her calls & visits from her little sister & best friend, Cynthia, who would make her laugh and “drag her” to fun places.
She is survived by her children, Christina (Daniel) Ashakih of Norwalk, Theresa (Kent) Bridgett of Norwalk & Anthony (Dusti) Bellitto of Grand Rapids, MI; ex-husband Richard (Teresa) of Sandusky, her six grandchildren Jasmine, Nicholas (Mary), Dmitri, Christian, Roman and the youngest-Angela Christine.; siblings, Robert (Elaine) Frygier, Donald (Susan) Jankowski, Cynthia (George) Radosavljevic and Thomas (Kathy) Jankowski; and much-loved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Special thanks to Danielle Buathier and staff at Firelands University Hospitals Cancer Treatment Center in Sandusky, Fisher Titus Medical Center Emergency & ICU staff, & home health care aide Andrea Miles.
Friends may call on Monday, February 7, 2022 from 11:00 A.M. until 12:30 P.M. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk and family asks that you wear a mask. Followed by a funeral Mass at 1:00 P.M. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 38 W. League Street, Norwalk. Burial will be at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Norwalk.
Memorial contributions may be sent to the family.
