Arndt Hestermann

Arndt E Hestermann, age 84, of Norwalk, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Thursday, January 27, 2022.

A loving and caring husband, Arndt was born June 25, 1937 in Gottesberg/Schlesien Germany and moved to the United States in 1957. Arndt served in the US Army and the Reserve. He worked as an auto mechanic at the Mansfield Volkswagen and retired after 30 years with GM in Ontario, OH. After retirement he and his wife, Suzanne, operated a small motel a block from the beach in Ft. Lauderdale, FL and also lived in Port St. Lucie, FL before moving back to Norwalk in 2009 to be near Suzanne’s family. Arndt loved all outdoor activities, playing soccer, racing motorcycles, boats and Corvettes. He enjoyed attending classic sport car shows and auctions.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 33 years, Suzanne (Reamer) Hestermann of Norwalk; children, Cynthia Acosta of Miami, FL and Scott (Soun) McMahan of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren, Cindy (Jordan) Chhem and family, Tommy (Kristen) Chhem, Sydney (Iana) Chhem and family, and Jimmy Chhem. Special family in Germany, Tommy and Kirsten Zientz and many cousins. Arndt also had an impact on his many brothers and sisters-in-laws, nephews, nieces, great nephews, and great nieces along with many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings Heidi and Volker.

Friends may call Wednesday, February 2, 2022, from 4:00 – 6:00 P.M. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. A funeral will be held at 11:00 A.M. in the funeral home Thursday, February 3, 2022 with Pastor Joe Grof officiating. Private burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery

Hello Sue, I’m so glad I got to see the both of you at the hospital on Tuesday, was not expecting to see this in the paper, I am so sorry for your loss, Arndt was such a joy to take care of and we always had a good time, he made my days at work enjoyable as you did when you came in, I wish you peace and comfort thru this hard time for you and your family, I am thinking of you and may god give you strength to get thru this,
