Kathleen Vandersommen

Kathleen A (Cobb) Vandersommen, age 67, of Wakeman passed away Monday, November 22, 2021 at Fisher-Titus Medical Center.

She was born April 20, 1954 in Amherst, OH to the late Helene (Katona) and Howard Cobb Jr. Kathy was so proud of her large blended family. She is survived by her 1st born Kevin (Stefanie) Daberkow. Her children, Kara Vandersommen of Norwalk, Brandon (April) Vandersommen of Vermilion, Benjamin Vandersommen of Arizona, and Andrew (Julianna) Vandersommen of New London. As well as her bonus children from ex-husband Gregory Vandersommen Sr. and Roberta Vandersommen. Randy (Natalie) Foster, Rachel (Tim) Foster, Jeanette (Michael) Golluscio, Annie Foster and Holden Vandersommen. She is also survived by her "Sissy" Candy (Kelly) King, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, and other extended family. She had several friends, many of whom will miss their regular dinner nights out as Kathy enjoyed trying new restaurants and recipes. She could tell you the ingredients of a dish within a bite or two. She loved to play cards with everyone but especially with her niece, Kelly Jo. She was a voracious reader and enjoyed the world of electronic books. She would read whenever she had to play the family taxi. She never minded having to wait on her babies...sometimes hours at a time!

She instilled the value of hard work into her kids and grandkids. She said there were no bad jobs. You were to take pride in your work and give 8 hours work for 8 hours of pay. She earned her bachelor’s degree while working full time and having a houseful of kids. She was known as a tough cookie because she was very open and honest.

Kathy loved her grandchildren most of all and will be greatly missed by Shelby, Cole, Adam, Becca, Kailey, Autumn, Christopher, Matthew, Augustus, Aaliya, Jackson, Scarlett, Hayden and Parker. She was thrilled to have her 1st great grandchild, Mila. She also took pleasure in the many videos of her various fur babies.

Kathy has several family members waiting to welcome her. Her son, Gregory Vandersommen Jr.; granddaughter, Katelyn Vandersommen; sister, Mary Helen; brothers, Turp, John, Charlie and Mike Cobb.

A private family service will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk.
