Wilma Nickoli

Wilma J (Gilhousen) Nickoli, age 87, of Norwalk, passed away Saturday evening, September 18, 2021 at Norwalk Memorial Home.

She was born February 14, 1934 in Cleveland, OH to the late Delbert and Frances (Bliss) Gilhousen. She graduated in 1952 from Norwalk High School. Worked at Pohl’s, Huron County Soil and Water and the City of Norwalk’s Zoning Department. She wrote many articles for the Voice Newspaper over several years. She was an avid artist, wrote and illustrated a couple books, enjoyed reading novels and activities with the Red Hat Society. She has enjoyed traveling with her husband, especially on snowmobiles, RVing and motorcycling. Wilma was a facilitator for multiple sclerosis and always enjoyed going to her grandchildren’s activities and sporting events. She was loved and will be missed.

She is survived by her daughter, Ann Baker; daughter-in-law, Mary Nickoli; grandchildren, Buddy Baker Jr., Sara (Mark) Worley, Clint (Amanda) Nickoli and Clay Nickoli; great-grandchildren, Mark, Phillip and Evelyn Worley and Millicent Nickoli; her sister, Linda Hunter; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence C. Nickoli Jr. in 2009; son, Joel C. Nickoli in 2011; sister, Elissa Ware in 1995; brother-in-law, Dave Hunter in 2014; and a nephew Mark Ware in 2020.

A funeral Mass will be held 1:30 P.M. Friday, September 24, 2021at St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 E. Main Street, Norwalk. A reception will follow at the church gathering space. Interment will be held at Hester Cemetery.
