William Betschman

William “Bill” L Betschman, age 78, of Norwalk, passed away Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at Gaymont Nursing Center.
He was born January 30, 1943 in Norwalk to the late Woodrow and Jane (Wickham) Betschman. He was a 1962 graduate of Norwalk High School and worked at Norwalk Furniture from 1962 until 1968. Betschman’s West End Greenhouse was founded in 1948 by his parents, and in 1976 Sharon and Bill took over management and relocated in 1997 to Betschman’s Flowers on Main.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon (Nickoli) Betschman of Norwalk, whom he married on October 12, 1963; children, Stephanie (Rob) Gerden of Greensboro, NC and Chris Betschman of Norwalk; grandchildren, Kelsey (Carl) Pawsat of Greensboro, NC, Alex Rice of Charlotte, NC and Maya (Spencer Urban) Rice of Hampton, VA; great-grandchildren, Rowan, Crosby and Lochlan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Bob Betschman; and nephew, Steve Betschman.
Memorial contributions may be sent to St, Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
A private family gathering will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk.
