Larry Donald Burdue

Larry Donald Burdue, age 70, of Norwalk, passed away Thursday, June 24, 2021 at Stein Hospice Care Center.

He was born September 30, 1950 in Norwalk to the late Donald and Opal (Gordon) Burdue. He attended Norwalk High School and worked at various jobs including Sears and the Telephone Company in Norwalk. He moved to Arkansas (AK) and was an owner and operator of two gas stations for many years. Later, he worked for both Reynolds and White Lumber Company in AK, and then, Atlantic Research in AK. He returned to Norwalk in the 1990’s and started working immediately at the City of Norwalk Sanitation Department. Then, he began working at the Huron County Landfill. Eventually, he started working for the County Commissioners in the Building and Grounds Department, where he retired in 2017. He enjoyed spending time with his family and was a former member of the Norwalk Moose Lodge. He was an avid model train enthusiast and gardener.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Catherine “Cathy” Burdue of Norwalk; children, Denise (Jim) White of Collins, Victoria (Matthew) Lakner of Norwalk, Jessica (Denver) Echard of Vermilion, Travis (Alicia) Burdue of Camden, AK, Michael (Lacy) Doughty of Oak Harbor, WA, and Timothy (Bonnie) Doughty of Vermilion; sister, Patricia (Roger) Morrow of Fitchville; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life gathering will be held Wednesday, June 30, 2021, from 9:00 until time of service at 10:00 A.M. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk, OH. Larry’s cousin, George Siss, will officiate. Burial will follow at Collins Cemetery.
