Mel Keefer

Melvin “Mel” A Keefer, age 94, of Norwalk and formerly Monroeville, passed away Friday, June 18, 2021 at his residence surrounded by his family.
He was born March 10, 1927 in Greenwich to the late Bernie and Mildred (White) Keefer. He retired after 26 years as a welder at MTD in Willard in 1990. He worked years mowing the Bronson Township Cemeteries with his family. He was an active member of the Norwalk Bronson Conservation Club, where he served as an officer for many years, and a member of the Norwalk Eagles Aerie 711 and Norwalk VFW. He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing bingo and cards, especially euchre and rummy.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Ann Y. (Albright) Keefer of Norwalk; children, Alice (Ron) Appeman of Norwalk, Mark Keefer of Norwalk, Sandy (Kevin) Wurmser of Bellevue, Jacqueline (Gary) Desmond of Monroeville and Jeffrey (Tammy Bechtler) Keefer of Norwalk; grandchildren, Michael, Kyle, Brad, Todd, Mandi and Amber; great-grandchildren, Brent, Mitchell, Kayla, Kira, Hunter, Melana, Jordyn, Evelyn, Jacob, Myla, Macie and one on the way; brother, Ben (Gert) Keefer of Willard; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Richard, Lyle, Carrol, Dale, Maurice, Virginia Dole, Bernard and Bernadette Keefer.
A celebration of life gathering will be held Tuesday, June 22, 2021 from 1:00 until time of service at 2:00 P.M. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. Pastor Brian Oglesbee will officiate. Private interment will be held at a later date.
