Harold Downing

Harold V Downing, age 98, of Norwalk, passed away Wednesday morning, June 16, 2021 at Admiral’s Point in Huron, OH.
He was born April 26, 1923 in Norwalk to the late Ellsworth and Corinne (Kelly) Downing. He served in the US Army during WWII as an infantryman at Normandy, Omaha Beach and Northern France. He was a model airplane enthusiast and operated Downing Body Shop for many years. He enjoyed listening to Big Band music, attending car shows and was a lifetime member of the Norwalk VFW Post 2743.
He is survived by his children, Wanda (Steve) Frugoli of Locust Grove, GA, Dale (Brenda) Downing of Norwalk, Terry (Martha) Downing of Vacaville, CA, Kenny Downing of Raleigh, NC and Ancle “Skip” (Karen) Downing of Norwalk; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Royal, Warren and Betty.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, June 18, 2021 at Woodlawn Cemetery in Norwalk.
