Mary Jean Collier

Mary Jean Collier, age 84, of Norwalk, passed away Thursday, May 27, 2021 at Stein Hospice Care Center.

She was born February 5, 1937 in Sandusky to the late Peter and Susie (Lombardo) Palmison. She was a 1954 graduate of St. Mary Catholic School in Sandusky and attended two years at Mary Manse College in Toledo. She enjoyed teaching 2nd and 3rd grade at St. Paul Elementary and St. Mary’s Elementary in her earlier years and was a bookkeeper at Berry’s Restaurant in Norwalk from 1970 until 2019. She enjoyed spending time with her family, eating out and traveling. She was an active member of St. Paul Catholic Church and its Rosary and Altar Society. She was an officer for many years with the Daughters of Isabella Chapter #282, past 4-H advisor and member of the Norwalk VFW Auxiliary and St. Gerard Majella Study Club.

She is survived by her children, Cheryl (Mike) Gfell of Norwalk, Deborah (Donald) Reising of Norwalk, Karen (Jeff) Wiedemann of Norwalk, William (Cathy) Collier of Chesapeake, VA, Marcia (Ronald II) Poland of Huron and Thomas (Paula) Collier of Norwalk; 19 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter; sisters, Janet “Dolly” Tomich of Sandusky and Susan Marti of Parma; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, grandson, Thomas Collier Jr.; great-granddaughter, Shay M. Reer; brother, Peter Palmison and his wife Jan; her in-laws, Eugene Tomich, Wilma Collier, Mary and Robert Stein, and Delores and Don Wheeler; and nephew, John Tomich.

Friends may call on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. A Funeral Mass will follow at 1:30 P.M. at St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 E. Main Street, Norwalk. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery.

I have so many fun memories with my Aunt and cousins in the past as a child remembering fun times family get togethers and remembering my Dad at this time as well, For all whom have passed are together again. My heart goes out to all the family and may you all find peace in knowing she is loved by so many...I love you
