Randall McCoy
April 17, 2021
Randall Glennis McCoy, 68, of Huron, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 17, 2021 after a courageous battle with brain cancer. He was born in Wise County, Virginia, to the late Edna "Marie" McCoy and Emory McCoy.
Randy was a lifelong truck driver who worked at R&L Carriers, E&L Carriers and retired from Cassens Transport Company. He was a proud member of the Teamsters Union and was blessed with the lifelong friendships that came from trucking. Randy was known for entertaining his fellow truckers with his harmonica to which he earned his CB handle name "Rockin' Randy". He was never found without a guitar or harmonica in hand and was always ready for the next jam session. His love for music came at a very young age when he was in a band called "The Youngsiders" where they were featured on the Gene Carroll Show. His favorite band was "The Real McCoy's" which allowed him to watch his son and grandson follow in his footsteps. Randy always believed there was music still to be made and found joy in buying various pieces of musical instruments to teach himself up until his passing.
Randy lived a well-rounded life and was always up for an adventure. He enjoyed traveling, riding his Harley Davidsons, seasonal camping and even lived on his houseboat in Tennessee while trucking. Building his log cabin home was very gratifying for him and it quickly became the place for large family gatherings which included a stage outside for entertaining.
Randy worked tirelessly his entire life in order to provide for his family. His hand was always open to anyone in need. He found happiness in giving to others. He loved his family deeply and always valued his time with them. Randy leaves behind his three children, Chris McCoy, Shad (Faith) McCoy and Lisa Hivnor (Kevin King). His favorite people that called him "PaPa" are: Zachary (Katie) McCoy, Brandon Malson, Malorie Malson and Jossalyn McCoy; great-grandchildren, Rowan and Finn McCoy, all of Norwalk; his siblings, Ronald McCoy of Asheville, NC, Linda (Jerry) Grove of Beavercreek, OH and Yvonne (Kevin) Kiser of Sandusky.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edna “Marie” Edwards McCoy and Emory Glennis McCoy; and his girlfriend, Barbara Mahoney.
Graveside funeral services will be held at Scott Union Cemetery, Huron Avery Road, Huron, on Thursday, April 22, 2021 at 2:00 P.M.
Arrangements entrusted to the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk.
