John "Jack" Pfanner

John “Jack” William Pfanner, age 81, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, Friday, April 2, 2021, at Norwalk Memorial Home.
Born January 27, 1940, in Venice, Ohio, the son of John Edwin and Minerva Theresa (Wobser) Pfanner. Mr. Pfanner was a 49-year resident of North Fairfield.
After graduating from Margaretta High School in 1958, Jack attended Bowling Green State University for two years. He went on to graduate from Elkins School of Electronics in Chicago, Illinois. In 1967, he began working for W.L.K.R as an AM Engineer eventually becoming Chief Radio Engineer for Ohio Radio, Inc. In 1973, due to declining health, Mr. Pfanner was required to leave the workforce and take disability.
Jack was a member of the America Numismatic Association for 44 years. He was also a member of the Bronson Conservation Club in Norwalk for 30+ years. Mr. Pfanner was involved with local politics/government, serving five terms on the North Fairfield Village Council.
Pfanner enjoyed playing all sports in his younger years; he was an avid baseball/softball player. During the mid-60’s he served as the Erie County ASA Commissioner. And Jack was a well-known Huron County dart ball player. He became an avid radio trivia player later in life.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Cheryll (Franklin) Pfanner. Together they were blessed with four children, John Pfanner Jr. of North Fairfield, Laura (Chuck) Stefaniak of New London, Jennifer (Jason) Ayres of Fremont, and Christina Pfanner of Mansfield; along with four grandchildren, Chaz and Willow Stefaniak, Midori, and Donovan Ayres; and one great-grandchild, Connor Stefaniak.
He is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Hazel Stefaniak.
In keeping with the wishes of Mr. Pfanner, he will be cremated and burial at North Fairfield Cemetery. Jack has requested both the service and interment be private, immediate family only.
