Mary Frances Egle
December 16, 2020
We lovingly gave our mother, Mary Frances (Hipp) Egle, 98, back to her heavenly Father on Wednesday, December 16, 2020, thanking him for the gift of her amazing life. After 53 years apart, our parents are finally reunited in their eternal love.
She was born March 5, 1922, in Bellevue, Ohio to Oliver and Loretta Hipp, the oldest of three children. Her parents preceded her in death. She was a lifelong resident of Norwalk, except for a short period in childhood where her family lived in Lorain, Oh, and attended St. Mary Catholic Church. She graduated from St. Paul High School in 1939 and was the last surviving member of her class.
She married the love of her life, Wilbur Egle, on March 11, 1943. They had ten children together before Will tragically died at the young age of 47, leaving her to raise their large family by herself. She never wavered.
She was a tower of strength and love. She quickly learned to embrace the life that was given to her. Her motto was “Lifes only as fun as you make it.” She taught her children to love life, the same way she had lived it. She gave them the confidence to know that they had unconditional love forever and that God is always in charge.
If you knew her, you loved her. She opened her heart and lent a helping hand or a listening soul to anyone who needed it. She shared her life lessons with all and made a lasting impression on all who crossed her path.
She was very devoted to her church and school, St. Paul Catholic Church and she was a member of the choir for many years. She was very proud of the fact that from 1950, when her first daughter Judy entered school, she had children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren in the school system, for 70 consecutive years.
She was very Irish and St. Patricks Day was her favorite day of the year. She always hosted an Irish lunch with many of her nieces and then joined her grandchildren and their friends on their party bus for an evening of Irish blarney. We will miss her beautiful Irish eyes smiling.
Her other favorite day was the 4th of July, where she adorned her grandson's float in the parade for many years, she felt like the queen of the parade and loved waving to her many friends.
She is survived by her children, Elaine Myers, Ginny (Dave) Eavey, Mary S. Egle, and Monica (Dave) Fondriest, all of Norwalk, Chris (Dave) England of Bellevue, Mike (Pat) Egle of Dearborn MI; daughter in law Ruby Egle of Lodi. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Paul (Dee) and Randy Myers, Janelle (Jeff) Dymond, Kevin (Laura) Egle, Jonathan (Libby) Egle, Rachel Egle, Dave (Trisha) Tarlton, Joe Tarlton, Kellie Thompson, Tyler Hayes, Tracey (Doug) Nash, Kellie (Jeff) Cousino, Kyle (Rachel), Chad (Danielle), Courtney, Kendra, and Collin England, Michaela, Stephen, Chandler (Allison) and Malia Fondriest; also survived by several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two “honorary children”, John Ridge and Helen Keoghan, many nieces, nephews, and many others who lovingly called her “ma” or “grandma”.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Wilbur; her sisters, Joanne (Ed) West and Marge (Norb) Roth; sons-in-law, Carl Myers and Ernie Bedocs. Her heart was shattered when she had to bury four of her children, Judy Bedocs, Chuck, Dale, and Jerry Egle; grandson, Brad Hayes.
The family would like to especially thank Hartland Hospice and Brittney Resor for their loving and compassionate care.
Friends may call Friday, December 18, 2020, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk Ohio. A funeral mass will be held Saturday, December 19, 2020, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 E. Main Street, Norwalk. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Norwalk Art Center, PO Box 656 Norwalk, Ohio.
We can almost see God embracing her and welcoming her home, whispering to her, “Well done my good and faithful servant, well done.”
