Evelyn Christian
November 08, 2020
Evelyn Christian, age 46, of Milan, gained her angel wings on Sunday, November 8, 2020, at University Hospital Parma Medical Center. Evelyn fought a very courageous battle with breast cancer for the 2 ½ years.
Evelyn was born on December 4, 1973 in Puerto Rico to father George Rivera and mother Alicia Mercado Rivera. She grew up in Lorain where many of her relatives lived. She graduated from Southview High School in 1993. In 1998, Evelyn met and began dating Marc Christian. They married on March 20, 1999.
Together Evelyn and Marc raised their children, Julian and Roslyn. Evelyn was blessed to stay home with her children through their younger years. Once they were older, Evelyn became a STNA and later a home health worker. She enjoyed taking care of others and did this work until she became ill in 2018.
Evelyn’s children and grandchildren meant the world to her. All that knew Evelyn knew how she cherished her family. Evelyn’s faith was strong and guided her through each and every day. She enjoyed reading and studying the Bible with family. Her faith gave her strength each and every day.
This faith also gave Marc and Roslyn strength as they cared for Evelyn for the past few months. Each day brought new obstacles in the fight against cancer. Evelyn referred to Marc as her “rock” and her children and grandchildren as “blessings”.
Evelyn is survived by her husband of 21 years, Marc; children, Julian and Roslyn Christian, stepdaughter, Kyrstin (Brandon) Dresser; and grandchildren, Aleena Christian and Myles Dresser; Also surviving are Evelyn’s father, George Rivera; sister, Jeanette Brown, Kevin Brown and family, and brothers, George Juni Rivera and Raymond Rivera.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her mother, Alicia Mercado Rivera.
Private services were held on Wednesday, November 11, 2020. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. The family requests that donations be made to the Piggyback Foundation, Norwalk or Cancer Services, Sandusky.
Arrangements entrusted to the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk.
