Larry "Smitty" Smith

Larry T “Smitty” Smith, age 70, of Milan, passed away, Saturday, October 31, 2020.

He was born July 23, 1950, in Milan, OH to the late Edward and Caroline Smith. He worked for the Village of Milan for over 40 years, serving as Street Superintendent, zoning inspector, and as a member of the Milan Township Fire Department for 38 years. He served as an usher and maintenance member for St. Anthony Catholic Church, of which he attended all of his life. Following his retirement in 2011, Smitty was often seen at the Pizza Box, taking drives around the village, and going to Cedar Point. Above all, he loved his family and the people of Milan.

He is survived by his siblings, Barbara Lang, David (Melanie) Smith, and Karen Kern; sister in law, Betty Smith; his companion of 23 years, Natalie Eversole; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, James A. Smith, and nephew, Mark Smith.

Friends may call Wednesday, November 4, 2020, from 3:00-7:00 p.m. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. A funeral mass will be held on November 5, 2020, at 11:30 at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Anthony Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Anthony Catholic Church Restoration Fund, 145 S Center St, Milan, OH 44846 and Milan Township Fire Department, 1518 State Route 113, Milan OH 44846.

I had a lot of laughs with Smitty
(the unofficial mayor of Milan)
He had an opinion on everything sometimes two. I’ll miss ya buddy.

Dear family: I have known "Smitty" for years and enjoyed visiting with him at the Invention for breakfast. He was a kind and generous man and a pillar of Milan and St. Anthony's. Please accept my deepest sympathy! John E. Schumm
