Mary Rekart

Mary C (Ruffing) Rekart, age 86, formerly of Norwalk, died Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at Parkvue Health Care Center in Sandusky.
Mary was born April 8, 1926 in Bismark, Ohio to the late Aloysius and Anne (Wise) Ruffing. She was a graduate of St. Paul High School and was a secretary of the St. Paul Alumni Association. She was corporate secretary for P and R Electric in Norwalk, manager of the Huron County License Bureau in the early 1980’s, and was also a real estate agent for Century 21 for many years. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and its Altar and Rosary Society, and an active member of the Huron County Republican Women’s Association for many years. She enjoyed cooking with her sister, Florence at the rectory for the priests for many years, and planting the church’s spring flowers. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren at the lake, and traveling in her later years with her husband.
She is survived by her husband, Clyde Rekart of Sandusky; and children, Maryann (Jon) Jefferis of Huron, Thomas (Vickie) Rekart of Annapolis, MD, Kathi Linton of Aiken, SC, Patti (Jim) Creamer of Indianapolis, IN and Marc (Stella) Rekart of Port St. Lucie, FL; 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; siblings, Rev. Joseph Ruffing of Smithfield, VA, Dorothy (John) Wagener of Columbus, Robert Ruffing of Norwalk, Sister Mildred Ruffing, HM of Youngstown, Rev. Norman Ruffing of Willits, CA and Norbert (Mary) Ruffing of Bratenahl, OH; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Florence A Ruffing.
Friends may call on Friday from 4 – 6 P.M. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at 10:30 A.M. at St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 E. Main Street, Norwalk. The Rev. Frank Kehres, pastor of St. Paul Catholic Church, will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery.
