George Stoddard

George A Stoddard, age 75, of Norwalk, passed away Sunday, January 24, 2021 at Fisher-Titus Medical Center.

He was born December 26, 1945 in Norwalk to the late Wilbur and Alma Stoddard. He served in the US Army from 1968 until 1970, stationed at the Presidio in San Francisco and served over a year in Germany, he was an excellent marksman and traveled Europe while serving. He worked over 40 years at David Price Metal Services/Fabriweld Corp. in Norwalk. After retirement he continued helping part-time, and also enjoyed driving for Smiley Automotive in Norwalk. During his 50 years of sobriety, he was a supportive member of AA. He was a member of the Norwalk Eagles Aerie #711 and enjoyed his daily conversations with his brother, members and his friends. He was a self-taught woodworker and was the “pool boy” at home in the summertime with his loving family and friends. He was a car enthusiast and especially enjoyed working on his El Camino, and attending car shows. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and family.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Cora (Crase) Stoddard of Norwalk; children, Kevin Stoddard of Norwalk and Billie Jo (Chad) Welter of Monroeville; grandchildren, Cody Stoddard and fiancé, Bryan Boylan of Cape Coral, FL and Donna Stoddard of Norwalk and fiancé, Thomas Smith, and their mother, Karen Stoddard, Jocelyn Welter and John Welter, both of Monroeville; his sister, Helen (Jim) Liddington; a great-grandchild on the way; his beloved dog, Dixie; and many special nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Donna Irene Stoddard in 1980; siblings, Walter Stoddard, Harry (Eileen) Stoddard and Jane Fuller.

A private family service will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk.
