Ronald L. Mackey

Ronald L Mackey, age 84, of Norwalk, passed away Saturday, February 24, 2018 at his home, surrounded by his family.

He was born May 8, 1933 in Monroe, MI to the late Kenneth L. and Martha (Prielipp) Mackey. He served in the US National Guard as a Sergeant in the Tank Corps in Korea from 1952 until 1955. He married his wife, Clara in 1954 and raised their children, and met Henry Ford Sr. by helping to work in a nursery, and his property that he landscaped. He worked at Ford Motor Co. and was a member of the UAW 1216. He enjoyed spending time with his family and especially enjoyed Christmas, served as a Scout Master for the boy scouts, and was a founder of the Norwalk Boy Scout troop at the Presbyterian Church. He was known to attend ice cream socials, gardening, walking, riding his bicycle and laying in the sun, working hard and was a good family provider. He also worked for Lincoln Homes, where he was instrumental in building houses around Sandusky. He was a member of the Eagles and American Legion in Sandusky.

He is survived by his children, Pam Radcliffe of Norwalk, Dianne Mackey of NY, Ronald N. (Nancy) Mackey of Fitchville and William L. (Lucia) Mackey of Raleigh, NC; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and loving wife, Clara (Perry) Mackey on August 6, 2008; granddaughter, Mary Beth Burns; and a great-granddaughter, Iris Laine Radcliffe.

A graveside service officiated by Pastor Tim McCollum will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, 1793 W. McPherson Hwy, Clyde, OH . Arrangements entrusted to the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk.
