Robert "Rainbow" Shaffer

Robert (Rainbow) A Shaffer, passed away Thursday, September 25, 2025 after a brief illness.
Born on March 4, 1953, in Amherst, OH, Rainbow graduated from Firelands High School in 1971. He was proud to call himself a Falcon. He always hoped his kids had a great meet or game but lost to the Falcons. He married Diane (Wade) on March 22, 1974, and they loved each other until the very end. They raised 3 children in the Norwalk/Milan, OH area. He worked for CertainTeed Roofing Company for 45 years and retired in 2016.
Rainbow enjoyed metal detecting, fishing, playing horseshoes, and decorating his house for all holidays. He was the happiest camping with his wife, spending time with his children, and spoiling his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Diane; sister, Mary (Shaffer) Lee and husband, Steve; brother David Shaffer and his wife, Chris; daughter, Christy Gainok and husband, Mark; son, Robert Shaffer and his wife, Jyoti; son, Daniel Shaffer and his wife, Heidi; and 5 grandchildren,1 great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father, Roy Shaffer; mother, Magdalen (Breznan) Shaffer; sister Betty (Shaffer) Hoffer; and brothers, Paul, Roy, and Ira Shaffer.
A celebration of Rainbow’s life will be held Friday, October 3, 2025, from 4:00 – 6:00 P.M. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. Private interment will be held at Milan Cemetery.
